About Kufri
Kufri is one of the most beautiful and well-known hill stations of India, which is located just 16 kms away from another renowned tourist destination Shimla. Located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, this amazingly beautiful hill station was founded by the British in 1819.
Deriving its name from ‘Kufr’ which translates into lake, this stunning tourist destination is best known for its ski slopes is the venue for National Snow Statue Competition which is held every year in January.
Apart from its wonderful skiing slopes, the picturesque hill station is also known for its bewitching landscapes, scenic hills, verdant forests, abundance of flora and fauna, snow-capped mountains, etc , which all seamlessly blends in to provide an immense sense of tranquillity and a feeling of being one with the nature.

A unique thing about this picturesque hill station is that you can visit it in both winter and summer. Ideally it is seen that majority of the hill stations are populated by the tourists during the summer season who flock to it to beat the intense summer heat.
Kufri hosts the Annual Winter Sports Festival held in February. Conducted by the travel and tourism department of the Himachal Pradesh government, this even draws adventure lovers from far and wide. Apart from the skiing competition, you can also participate in, or watch other adventure sports like tobogganing and go-karting.

A heaven for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts, the Himalayan National Park located on the outskirts of the city is another major attraction of this small hill station. This park home to hundreds of endangered bird species also hosts a variety of animals like leopards, black bears, musk deer, etc.
