The President visits this scenic hill station every year to enjoy its sylvan surroundings and its vast expanse of unhindered natural beauty. During the course of his visit, the main office shifts to the retreat at Chharabr. The Presidential retreat consisting of 16 rooms is a completely wooden structure constructed in 1860.
The President stays here for two weeks in a year and for the rest of the time the retreat is used by the Government to house foreign VIP dignitaries visiting Shimla and surrounding hill stations.
This picturesque hill station is well-connected by the historic Hindustan-Tibet road which was constructed in 1860 when Lord Dalhousie was the governor general of India. Mashobra boasts of breathtakingly beautiful views, bewitching forests and blissful weather.

The Reserve Forest Sanctuary is another major tourist attraction in Mashobra. It is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna and you can easily sight the famous musk deer. You can also visit the nearby Mahasu which has a very famous ancient temple.
